Detailed Description

For our top coders, this course will dive into the techniques and concepts of JavaScript and apply them to art and game design. We will use code to generate art patterns and learn complex coding concepts by creating amazing designs.

We will create a variety of creative games using JavaScript library languages such as P5.js, and your child will have the ability to personalise and design their very own pieces and games. From an analytical point of view, campers learn advanced coding concepts and functions, but all through the fun and exciting world of art design and games.

Our master coders will also get to dabble in robotics and explore using the Hummingbird robotics. Using these advanced kits they will be able to create their very own robots from scratch using crafting materials and electronic components such as motors and sensors.

Topics Covered

  • Gaining a greater mastery of JavaScript coding
  • Learning mathematical concepts and intermediate coding procedures
  • Basic physical computing
  • Debugging code
  • Applying creative problem-solving techniques to programming

This is a level 4 course suitable for experienced coders aged 10 to 14. Students should be proficient in using the computer, keyboard and mouse, and text-based languages. They should also have experience using a coding language such as Scratch or Bitsbox. If you child is a beginner coder, we recommend completing Creative Coding Level 3: Introduction to JavaScript first

A typical day at camp

Welcome Campers! Sign in, wave your adults goodbye and buckle up for a day of fun.

Kick off with ice-breaker games and get to know each other.

Introduction to our activity for the day. Let’s get coding!

Short break (with snacks and water)

Back to coding, building, designing and creating.

Lunch box time – grab some food, fuel up and re-focus that brain of yours.

Outdoor games – let’s get physical (we may even re-enact some of the games we make on our laptops!) If the weather does not allow it, we will do some hands-on activities inside.

Back to class – let’s build robots!

Short break

Finish off building and engineering - it is time to program the robots!

Show and tell – you’ll get the chance to impress your friends with your fine handiwork, attention to detail and creativity.

Pack your bags, go home and chill out!

Please note that sometimes a teacher will change a schedule depending on students' ability and interests.
