Are you passionate about coding or technology? Would you like to inspire children to become digital makers and teach them to code? We’re looking for dedicated and creative individuals to join our community of private tutors. If you want to inspire and engage children, and have experience coding in Scratch and/ or text-based languages such as Python or JavaScript, we’d love to hear from you. 

Blue{shift} education is London’s premier coding educator and has been teaching children aged 5 to 14  a creative approach to coding and robotics since 2013. We run after school clubs at nearly 20 schools and run coding and robotics camps every holiday and half-term. We also have a growing roster of private tuition clients. We develop and test most of our own teaching materials and offer a best in breed computing education. Our ethos is to inspire children with the creative possibilities of code and show them all the things they can make using technology as a tool. 

We are looking for private coding tutors who can help students aged 5 to 16 on a 1:1 basis. 

The range of work is quite varied and can be anything from teaching Python to an 11 year old to working on an animation project or supporting a student studying for their GCSEs. We provide a range of course materials, guidance and training to all of our tutors to help them with their planning and assessment. 

Responsibilities:

  • Planning and leading private tutoring sessions
  • Planning student learning plans and objectives
  • Assessing student abilities and progress and reporting back to parents.
  • Fostering an enjoyable, positive atmosphere in tuition sessions
  • Acting as a blue{shift} ambassador and working towards student (and parent) happiness
  • Attending teacher training sessions

We are looking for applicants that fill the following criteria:

  • You have studied Computing in University, or a related field, or have done relevant training. You may have done programming through music, digital design or physics. We welcome a broad spectrum of approaches to Computer Science. 
  • You are available to work at least one day per week after school hours (eg. from 4pm)
  • You love working with children
  • You are enthusiastic about technology and its creative possibilities
  • Teaching or tutoring experience is a plus
