A New Approach

blue{shift} works closely with teachers and schools, providing content and running workshops that help them to achieve the aims of the new National Curriculum in Computing.

New Technologies

We support schools by bringing new technologies into classes and creating lesson plans to enable students to engage with them. Students use code and electronics to realise the products of their imagination.

New Challenges

We provide access to computing and robotics products teachers might like to try but have been unsure where to start. We bring in equipment schools may not have access to - like robotics, 3D printing, and e-textiles.

Services for schools

After School Clubs

We run after school clubs to children aged 5 to 14. Our core after school club curriculum is based on both Coding and Robotics, engaging a spectrum of learning styles through tangible and screen-based exercises. We also offer special interest after school clubs covering exciting and relevant topics such as animation and Virtual Reality. Find out more here.

We regularly come into schools to run one-off workshops or even whole series of workshops. Popular workshops we've run in the past include robotics with Lego Mindstorms, designing wearables and 3D printing. We can provide as many teachers as necessary for any class size.

In-class teaching

We run weekly in-class teaching sessions at a number of schools. We might come in to a school to teach a weekly JavaScript session, or do a term’s worth of robotics; These classes are tailored to the particular requirements of each school and taught by one of our experienced teachers.

Training and advisory

We have developed a series of CPD sessions for teachers including such topics as teaching JavaScript and robotics. In the past we have worked with CAS (Computing at School) to provide training, develop assessment tools, and ensure alignment with the National Curriculum.

We are always keen to develop working partnerships with schools, charities, and the local community - particularly in the West London area. Since 2013 we have worked with Wandsworth Council, Ealing Council, The Westway Trust, and Great Ormond Street Hospital among many others.

Holiday camps

As we run holiday camps every half term, summer and winter break, we're always interested in working with schools who might wish to hire out their facilities for a camp or help us host or promote a workshop. Find out more about our camps here.
