blue{shift} is West London's premier coding educator. We offer after school clubs, holiday camps, workshops, and private tuition for children aged 5-13. We offer a creative coding education that teaches children problem solving skills which apply to many areas of learning.

We believe that if taught with a focus on creativity, learning to code will not only equip young people with the technical skills they need to excel in the future, but will also teach them critical problem solving skills. We see Computing as a field of study that has many cross-curricular applications, from English to Maths to Art. We encourage students to see the projects they make in their wider context and think creatively about what they do in the process.

Workshops to suit all needs

Whatever the size of your school, community group, or corporate event, blue{shift} education can create a bespoke workshop to introduce coding and robotics and inspire young children to design, build, and explore.

Courses we have offered in the past have included one hour, two hour, half day, full day and even full week workshops for groups ranging from 12 to 40+ children at a time.

We can provide all equipment (including iPads, laptops, and robots) as required. Equally we can make use of school computer networks as desired.

Our expert teachers have led courses such as:

Mini Coders

Making Games and Robot Playgrounds

Coding and Robotics for Teens and Tweens

Coding for Art and Games

See below for some examples of our course content!

Mini Coders

Ages: 4-7

Children will explore the concepts of computational thinking with either Scratch or Scratch Junior, depending on age and ability. We will explore giving robots instructions using Cubetto; a friendly robot designed for young children. They will put together ‘procedures’ for the Cubetto to follow and create a story based around their code. The challenges Cubetto performs are simple and revolve around getting the Cubetto to different places on a map.

Making Games and Robot Playgrounds

Ages: 8-11

In this workshop we will be making custom mini apps that can be used on any device with a web browser. We’ll be designing and creating our own apps using a JavaScript library designed for children called Bitsbox.  The second part of the workshop will focus on robotics. We will create a maze for our line tracing Ozobots which can perform complex tasks programmed using colours.
