Code, Code, Code! Coding is a practical skill, the best way to learn is by doing it. Try and always have a project you’re working on, if you can’t think of any ideas for projects look to the internet for inspiration, there’s so many resources online these days.

I first started coding as part of my degree at university. I decided to study coding mainly because as a child I was always into computers, music technology and problem solving. As I delved deeper into producing and recording music, I got really into using music software that allowed you to add really cool effects to the music you recorded and it inspired me to learn how to make my own. I made an iPhone app audio looper, where you could record yourself beatboxing, singing or playing an instrument, it would then play it back to you, and you can then add more and more layers of sounds or musical parts etc. Similar to what Ed Sheeran uses during his performances. I started teaching because I really love being able to help and inspire people who are really excited by coding and robotics to achieve and learn new things. The idea of potentially inspiring someone to pursue a career in computing is very rewarding. I believe coding is the only skill in which the demand is just going to keep increasing in the coming years. Also with more and more human jobs likely to be replaced by robotic counterparts, they are going to need people who know how to code.
