Regardless of the course, the camp, or how many times a student takes it, we create new content each and every time.

Detailed information

Want to introduce your child to coding, but not sure where to start?  Want your child to learn the foundations for a future tech education and have fun whilst doing it?

This course uses Scratch, a colourful and interactive language created by MIT to explain coding concepts to young children, to show campers how computer languages work.

Campers apply their knowledge each day through new projects and challenges. Past projects have included making games with their own characters, creating incredible artwork through code, and programming a spaceship. This course also introduces students to robotics through fun activities, and hands-on experiments with robots that can dance, move and even ‘see’ colour.

This course is perfect for 6 to 7 year olds who are curious about how the world works, and who want to start designing and coding their own creations! After completing this course, blue{shift} offers a second level of Scratch and Robotics education, for kids who are keen to progress on their coding journey and build on the foundational skills they have developed in this course.

Your child will learn:

  • Introduction to computational concepts such as algorithms, conditionals and loops.
  • Logical reasoning and problem-solving skills
  • Programming with a block-based language (developed specifically for children)
  • Touch-typing
  • Confidence and knowledge in using computing equipment, such as inputs and outputs
  • Programming and animating sprites
  • Basic robotics and sensor knowledge
  • How to create animations and games
