February Half-Term Hackathon: The Highlights!
We had such a great week at our Feb Half-Term Hackathon with our coding campers!
Our teachers are all so proud of all the projects the children completed and their constant enthusiasm. It was amazing to see even our littlest Mini Coders pick up some extreme coding knowledge in such a short time! They learned algorithmic processes using LightBot, Scratch Jr. and Dashbots. As our LEGO Spike kits are always a fan-favourite, we were able to use them to build underwater scenes with fully mobile submarines.
Our Revolutionary Robotics camp was full of robotics fun - including the build of a super creative 'SMART' home, by a fabulous group of girls, that included a roof that raised on command. Cars were designed to be raced, and things got competitive!
Every day in the Arcade Remade camp was focused on reviving and creating a code-based version of famous arcade and old school games. This included Mario Kart, car race games, Donkey Kong, You're "It!" and Go fish - even parents were jealous!
Our Innovators spent the week fine-tuning their code with BattleSnake. If you have ever played the snake game on your old Nokia phone, then Battlesnake is like that, but with the added twist of battling other snakes. The chance of winning increased with the quality of their code, so the students had to learn fast in order to improve their chances. The students were impressive, and their development over the week was evident. It was an exciting week for everyone!
A big 'high 10' and thank you to all who joined us in our Hackathon adventures!
We have our Code Planet coding and robotics camps coming up these Easter holidays, so be sure to join us for more coding fun!
