We are shining a spotlight on Reshma Saujani, founder of American non-profit organisation, Girls Who Code. We explore what motivated her to try and address the gender imbalance in computer science and how Girls Who Code is also working to resocialise girls to be more brave.

Something we’re always talking about in the blue{shift} office is how we can better engage girls with the coding camps, workshops, and after-school clubs we offer. We decided to take a look at attendance numbers from the last seven holiday camps we’ve run (going back to December 2016), to see if there’s a particular age or course type at which girls are more or less engaged than others. We want to answer the question: just how divided are coding camps — and what can we do to address the discrepancy?
