Just as basic reading and writing skills are a start but not the point where anyone should aim to finish, so there are great advantages in gaining more advanced skills, especially coding.

Highlighting the message about the value of taking coding classes, it emphasised this is an area not only expanding in life but increasing as a provider of employment, with job levels in the American IT industry set to rise by 15 per cent between 2021 and 2031.

If such jobs increase in the US, they will surely do so elsewhere, including in Britain. But that is not the full extent of it. As the article added, other sectors will hire coding experts themselves, increasing the opportunities for the future.

Taking private lessons can be a very effective way of ensuring your children get the coding education they need. This way, they can get the full focus they may need to maximise their potential.

This may be particularly useful if they show real talent in this area, although you may want to temper expectations. Not everyone can be as prodigious as a Russian boy called Sergey. The seven-year-old from St Petersburg has been offered a job by IT firm Pro 32, although under Russian law he will not be able to take up a paid role until he is 14.

Sergey’s father Kirill told the BBC World Service his son’s talent emerged soon after he started coding classes.

“After a month, our help was no longer needed, and after two, Sergey was so carried away that he overtook everyone,” he revealed.
