For me, coding is all about the thrill of problem-solving. There's nothing quite like the feeling of finally figuring out a tough piece of code, and I love how coding allows you to be both logical and creative at the same time. I'm driven to teach because I believe it's about more than just sharing knowledge; it's about building confidence. My goal is to help students navigate challenges and avoid common pitfalls, giving them the tools and self-belief to bring their own ideas to life.
I started coding at university, where I created projects in both Python and Java- most recently creating a 2D platformer game in Java, which really developed my skills in problem-solving and game logic. Alongside programming, I’ve explored design and 3D modelling, which has deepened my appreciation of how technology can bring ideas to life. Combining these skills, I’m passionate about inspiring young learners to enjoy coding as much as I do.

Rescheduling lessons

If you need to reschedule a lesson for any reason, please give us at least 24 hours notice by either contacting your tutor or a member of our team at hello@blueshiftcoding.com and we will do our best to move the session for you.

If your child is feeling unwell, we might be able to reschedule your lesson up to 2 hours before the lesson is supposed to start for online tuition, and up to 4 hours before the lesson is due to start for in-person tuition.

Missing a lesson

Please be aware that if you miss a lesson for any reason and do not give us at least 24 hours notice we will take this as a no-show and charge you the full rate of this session without an opportunity to reschedule, as we must compensate our tutors for their time.

FAQs

Is my child the right age for tutoring?

We tutor children aged 5-16 years old. Each lesson is specially adapted to your child so that our tutors are able to guide them through their journey from block-based to text-based coding as they mature and progress!
Can I have tuition with more than one child at a time?

Yes. Please be aware that with each child added to a session we increase the price by 0.5. For example, online tutoring with a private tutor teaching our core curriculum would cost £50ph for one child and £75ph for two children. If you would like group tuition please either book a consultation, fill out an enquiry form or contact us directly at hello@blueshiftcoding.com.
How often can I have the sessions?

Our tutoring service is completely bespoke, so whether you would like one session a week or three, we'll match you with a tutor who is able to meet your needs.
What language should my child start with?

This depends on their age and experience, our general guide is: 5 year olds should start with Scratch Jr on an iPad, 6-8 year olds should start with Scratch on a computer, 8-10 year olds should start with JavaScript or Python at a basic level and 10+ should start with JavaScript or Python at a more advanced level. However this will depend on their experience, if you are unsure you can book a consultation or contact us at hello@blueshiftcoding.com, or wait until your child's trial session where their tutor can assess their ability.
I don't want to book a package - can I pay as I go?

Due to administrative work that is required, the smallest package that we can offer is 2 sessions. However, a 10% surcharge might apply due to administrative costs.

What if I don’t like the tutor allocated for my trial?

Your tutor is one of the most important aspect of your tutoring experience. Whilst all of our tutors are experienced and passionate, we understand that sometimes you might be looking for something different. If you don’t like your tutor after your trial session, just get in touch with us at hello@blueshiftcoding.com and we will look at matching you with a different tutor that better fits your requirements.
