Minis: Ages 4 (10AM - 2PM)
Coding and Robotics Half Day
|24th - 28th October / Notting Hill Prep School / week
In this camp, young children are introduced to coding and technology through short accessible activities that require no previous experience. Students will have fun making their very own robots using basic robotics, and develop basic coding skills using Scratch Jr, an introductory programming language designed specifically for young children. The course is punctuated with regular breaks to ensure that young learners are able to focus on the key takeaway components of coding.
Starting their coding journeys with iPads or tablets, students will learn problem-solving skills and the fundamentals of coding, loops and logical reasoning. This camp introduces children to key aspects of basic robotics through Lego WeDO, Dashbots or Ozobot; from circuits and motors with different kits, to programming and sensors. They will develop their programming skills using Scratch Jr, an introductory programming language that enables young children to create their own stories, animations and games. This course will teach basic ICT skills and introductory computing concepts that are an important first step for children, especially when grasping the new National Computing Curriculum.
Information for parents
We ask that you do not sign up children younger than 5 up to our Mini Coders course as we are not Ofsted Licensed for under 5 year olds.
Please note that parents will not be allowed on site due to COVID-19 restrictions. However, our Mini Coders will be provided wrap-around care by a team of two lovely teachers.
10.00 - 11.00
First off we'll get to know our teacher and classmates through some great mini games. Once we're all friends, we'll be introduced to our activity for the day. Let's jump in to coding!
11.15 - 12.30
Now that we've had a healthy snack, we're ready to get right back into our activity. We'll carry on flexing our creative muscles by designing, coding and building our project.
13.30 - 2
Let's refocus after lunch and playtime by diving into building our robots! It's time to finish off our project for the day and show it off to the rest of the class. Time has flown by - let's tidy up our work stations, pack up our things and get ready to go home!
I liked making my robot move!

Campers should not be brought to camp if they are displaying signs of illness. In the case of a camper who has become ill during camp hours, parents will be notified immediately to pick their child up. If a child misses a day or multiple days of camp because of an illness, credit towards another camp can be arranged for when they're feeling better.
You can cancel your camp booking up to 14 days prior to the start date. If you want to cancel your camp booking less than 14 days before, you can receive 50% refund or full credit towards future courses when cancelling between 13-7 days before, or full credit when cancelling less than 7 days before. If we are unable to run our camps, you will receive credit or a full refund.
