Ike, Teacher

BSc Human Biology, Southbank University, London. PGDip Object Oriented Software System, City University, London.

Since my teens I have also enjoyed keeping fit, which galvanised my interest in the Human body and the sciences. Hence my Undergraduate Degree is in Human Biology. I then went on to do a post graduate diploma in Object Oriented Software Systems, where I learned the paradigm of modern programming languages formally known as Object-Oriented Programming (OOP). This approach to coding I use today when game developing using C#, and Python.

I have had an interest in programming computers since the age of about 13. Over the years I have experimented with many languages such as BASIC and PASCAL (showing my age a bit here), C++, JAVA and more recently C# and Python. Game development using the Unity Game Engine and Python is a frequent pastime for me at present.
I’ve always got some little project on the go which occasionally ends up being a fully blown completed game. Other times, however, it may simply remain at the experimental stage with the possibility of becoming something grand at some point in the future. This is what coding and game design are all about, coming up with ideas, experimenting and being creative.
This learning process along with the creativity and fun that go along with it is the mindset I try to pass onto students. Computers, AI and technology, in general, are such an important part of modern-day life it is vital that those starting out today have a basic grasp of coding so that not if, but when they are confronted with technology and the digital world, they at least have a basic understanding of what is going on under the bonnet so to speak. This makes for a more fluid and confident interaction with technology.
