What is it?
Our online version of private tuition takes our incredibly popular face-to-face service and adapts it for the digital world! With experienced tutors and a unique coding curriculum, each hour-long online tuition session is tailored to your child to fit their programming passions.
Following our UCL EDUCATE award winning curriculum, as well as a rough lesson outline, each tutor will tailor lesson content to each of their students - giving each child the time to grow at their own pace. Every lesson will explore key coding concepts and our tutors will work with each student to develop hands-on practical programming projects and follow-up content.
What does a typical session look like?
Fifteen minutes before your session your tutor will send you a link reminding you to log in. At the start of the lesson your tutor will introduce themselves to your child and get to know their interests. They might then be given a series of challenges to solve over the course of the lesson. At the end of the session, your tutor will present you with a short write up of everything your child covered along with a link to any homework that was given. Finally, you will have a few minutes at the end of the session to discuss what happened over the last hour and, if you wish, to schedule any future tutor sessions.
What do I need to do?
Booking a trial lesson and your tutoring package is easy!
- Choose the tutor level, date, and time for your trial session from the drop down menu, following which you will be prompted to enter your details into our form.
- Once we have this information we will then match you with a tutor that fits your requirements in preparation for your trial.
- Having matched you with a tutor we will send you all the information about your upcoming session, including instructions for setting up our conferencing software and any coding platforms.
- After your child's first digital coding lesson we will send you more information about booking one of our packages, and if you’d like to continue we then schedule a weekly session in the same time slot as your trial.
If you do decide to continue coding with us after your trial we offer two different payment options: you can either book a block of five lessons or a block of ten. These sessions are scheduled daily and we recommend a session at the same time each day for consistency. Daily bookings and other flexible options are available; contact us to discuss your availability and for information on how to book these.
What are the technical requirements?
We ask that every student has access to a laptop or computer with a high-speed internet connection, a webcam, a headset/earphones, and a microphone. Before each session we will provide instructions on setting up our video conference software as well as any further information about relevant coding platforms and technical requirements for that particular session.
What is the cancellation policy?
We understand that life happens and plans can change. We kindly ask that you contact your tutor or one of our team at least 24 hours in advance of a lesson if you need to reschedule it for any reason.
If you do not provide 24 hours notice, we will charge the usual session rate, as our tutors must be paid for their time!

Is there a cut-off time for when I can book a trial session?
When you book your trial session, you choose the level of the tutor as well as the day and the time of your trial session.
You are able to book a trial session for the following weekday as long as you book by 16.00 PM (GMT) the day before you wish your trial to start. The cut-off time for any trial on Monday's are 16.00 PM (GMT) the previous Friday.
This is so that we have time to contact and confirm your session with your tutor, provide set-up instructions, and invite you to your online session.
Can you teach at locations outside of London?
We can bring our online services to anywhere in the world with a strong internet connection!
What if I don’t like the tutor allocated for my trial?
Your tutor is one of the most important aspect of your tutoring experience. Whilst all of our tutors are experienced and passionate, we understand that sometimes you might be looking for something different. If you don’t like your tutor after your trial session, just get in touch with us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will look at matching you with a different tutor that better fits your requirements.
I am worried about my privacy; can you help with this?
Yes, we can!
Zoom has a feature that allows you to choose a virtual background, meaning you can blur out the background of your video and protect your privacy. When you're in the Zoom app simply click on the little arrow next to ‘stop video’ and select ‘Choose Virtual Background’ to choose a picture. This then works like a green screen, protecting your privacy.
